The UTS Startups Awards are an annual celebration of the incredible technology-enabled startups at UTS, honoring the student and alumni entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions to society and are innovating the world.
This year for the first time ever, UTS Startups and the UTS Business School Venture Day teamed up for the awards. A suite of cash and prizes valued at over $95,000 from community partners were awarded to the 2022 UTS Startups Awards and UTS Venture Day category winners.
On the evening of August 31st, 2022, 44 semi-finalists pitched to a live panel of judges and audience of over 500 people, for the chance to win a share of cash and prizes valued at over $95,000.
And our very own CEO Naby Mariyam attended and pitched, to become one of the 12 startup winners of the night! Naby delivered an incredible pitch about the importance of income protection insurance, taking home female entrepreneur of the year award.
Other winners included Compass IoT taking away UTS Startup of the year, Urban plant growers for the Best UTS Startup (high traction) category, CryptoSpend and Consent Labs tieing in the most inspiring award category and Maslow winning the community morale award by a landslide.
